Comic Genie Promotion

Don't get angry, Steve. It's a joke!

This comic was made on my phone. How cool is that?

Comic Genie, is the number one coolest way to send images to your friends.  Think about how cool it would be to send a picture that included a personal, funny message!  Comic Genie can show people the true value of your friendship: not only do you have an iPhone, but you totally rock.  And you have the comics to prove it.

I posted about this promotion before, but I think I wasn’t very clear. So here it is again, clearer this time.

This may be your only chance to get Comic Genie for free!

Comic Genie, right now, costs $1.99 on the iTunes App Store.  In order to get the word out there about this great app for making comics on your iPhone, I will give it away for free.  That’s right!  The first 30 people who tweet (or retweet) the following message will get a free copy of Comic Genie.

For your free copy, just tweet (or retweet) the following message:

Retweet this message for free #iPhone app Comic Genie, normally $1.99 http://bit.ly/7yOa7

Then send an email to iphone@zenpress.net with a link to the tweet so I can send you your promotion code to redeem at the iTunes store. I won’t keep your email address, and I won’t give it away or sell it, I promise. We don’t do business like that because it’s annoying.

Happy apping!

A great talk about user interfaces

Aza Raskin gives a great talk at Google about user interface design. One line synopsis/quote:

“If you notice the interface, that means you’re thinking about the interface and not the thing you’re trying to do.”

Apparently people are using the iPhone 3Gs Video Feature

Video on the iPhone is something that I’ve been waiting for.  The new and improved camera is my favorite feature in the new phone, though I don’t think I will upgrade just yet.  Video appears to be very popular.  Expect to see lots of new iPhone videos on Youtube.

Comic Genie finally released!

Don't get angry, Steve. It's a joke!

Don't get angry, Steve. It's a joke!

The Powers that Be at Apple have approved of Comic Genie!  That means it is now available at the iTunes store.

If you are just so excited about the app, I’ll give you a link to it.  But for those who are more patient, read on, for a chance to get it for free!

Comic Genie on the iTunes App Store.

I’m having a little promotion to spread the word about the awesomeness of Comic Genie.  I will give away 30 free copies of Comic Genie to 30 lucky people.

Here’s how it works:

Blog or tweet about Comic Genie with a link to this page.  Then email me a link to your tweet or blog post.  I’ll then go read it to confirm that it conforms to the guidelines below.  The first 30 people to get an email into my mailbox and whose posts I confirm will get a promotion code that they can redeem on the iTunes store.

Here are the guidelines:

  • All posts must spread positive excitement about Comic Genie.  That includes excitement about this promotion.
  • Blog posts must be significant.  No three-line posts, unless I can tell that all of your posts are three lines.  It is sufficient to simply explain how to participate in the promotion, say that you were anticipating the app, or whatever.  A good thing to do would be to have one of the comics I’ve created in the app (found on this site) in your post.
  • Tweets must explain the promotion (like “Want to make comics on your iPhone? Chance to get free comic app!”) or something like that. RTing someone else (as long as the link and message are intact) counts.  @replies do not count.

I would say that the Twitter option is easier and better all around.  I know how hard writing a full-blown blog post can be.  I’m sure 30 people can tweet before you can write your post.

Ok, people, the races have already started!

The new iPhone

I’m pretty excited about the new iPhone. Apple is very good at buzz generation. If only I could generate so much for my apps!

Here are the things I am looking forward to in the new phone:

  • Better camera — 3GP and focus! Amazing!
  • Video
  • Video SMS

Here’s what I’m excited about in iPhone 3.0:

  • Copy-paste — finally!
  • External devices
  • Push notification
  • In-app payments — I’m thinking up new app ideas to use this

MMS is not too exciting, since I have a first generation iPhone. It won’t work for them because of hardware limitations. I was completely bummed when I realized I couldn’t send pictures when I first got it. My free phone I got with my plan before had it! I’m just glad people will be able to share comics they create with Comic Genie.

The compass is not too exciting, though I’m sure I would use it if I had it. There’s nothing much to say about that.

What are you looking forward to the most?

Comic Studio is now Comic Genie!

Comic Genie's initial screen

I’ve updated the name and given the app a new look. It’s a similar style, but a graphic to match the new genie theme. Also, check out the nicer buttons in the toolbar!

It has been submitted to the app store, so keep up to date with the news here.  Once it is released, there will be a chance to get a free copy. Stay tuned!

uh oh! Name change alert!

Apparently, the name Comic Studio already refers to software used to
make comics. Oh no! I don’t want to confuse anyone or make anyone
angry, so I’m going to change the name.

I don’t know what the name is going to be. I’m going to choose it
tomorrow, and I should have a resubmission of the app by tomorrow
afternoon. I’ve got plenty of names to choose from.

Which of these do you like best?

Comic Factory
Comic Lab
Bubble Puppy
Bubble It Up!
Bubble Bot

What does this mean for you?

It will take a little longer to get your hands on the app. The
submission process will start over, so the nice folks at Apple will
have to review it all over again. So I’m guessing about a week from Friday.

Also, I hope no one gets confused by the name change. I’ll let you
know what I decide tomorrow. I promise.

I’m still going to have a promotion once it comes out, so stay tuned
or miss the opportunity to get the app (whatever it shall be called)
for free!

Comic Studio submitted for review

Hey everybody!

I just submitted the latest app for review. That means that Apple is
now checking over my application to make sure it meets their quality
standards. Once that happens, it will be for sale in the iTunes App
store!

To promote my new app, I’ll be giving away free downloads of Comic
Studio once it comes out. Stay tuned to find out more. You can
subscribe to my RSS feed to the right to stay informed.
